Professor S. P. Singh Appointed Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan Sahkari University

New Delhi/Ahmedabad: In a significant development for higher education and cooperative sector leadership in India, Professor S. P. Singh has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan Sahkari University (TSU), an Institution of National Importance established under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. The university, located in Anand, Gujarat, has been developed with academic support from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and aims to nurture future leaders in cooperative management, agribusiness, and rural development.

Professor Singh currently serves as the Director General and Vice Chancellor of Kaushalya – The Skill University, Gujarat’s premier skill-based university. Since taking charge as its first full-time Vice Chancellor in July 2024, he has played a transformative role in shaping the institution’s academic, administrative, and infrastructural framework. Under his leadership, the university strengthened its governance systems, streamlined examination and academic processes, and developed a distinct identity as a modern, industry-oriented institution focused on skill development and employability.

Widely regarded as an accomplished academic leader and institution builder, Professor Singh has an extensive record of establishing and strengthening higher education institutions. Prior to his tenure at Kaushalya University, he served for nearly eight years as the Founding Vice Chancellor of The Assam Royal Global University, Guwahati, where he was instrumental in building the institution into a respected centre of higher learning. He also served as Vice Chancellor of Amity University Chhattisgarh and has contributed significantly to the growth and development of institutions such as the Sherwood Group of Institutions, Lucknow, Royal Group of Institutions, Guwahati, and Amity University Mumbai.

Known for his strategic vision, administrative acumen, and expertise in institutional development, Professor Singh brings decades of experience in creating robust academic ecosystems, governance structures, and long-term growth frameworks for emerging universities.

As the first Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan Sahkari University, established in 2025, Professor Singh is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s future and advancing the Government of India’s vision for cooperative education and leadership development. Education experts believe his proven track record in institution building and academic innovation positions him well to establish TSU as a centre of excellence with national and global recognition.

His appointment is being viewed as a major step towards strengthening higher education in the cooperative sector and fostering a new generation of leaders equipped to contribute to India’s rural and economic development.
